 Kraft Plus

Happy New Year Krafters! This month at Kraft Plus we are getting inspired by Indigenous art.  Oh the possibilities! For my page I created a cut file for my Silhouette Cameo using a single circle.  I layered the cut file over some Cocoa Vanilla studio paper from their Bohemian Dream collection.  I really wanted the title to look a certain way and I couldn't get it to work.  So I scripted the 'free' myself and then scanned it and cut it out on the Silhouette Cameo.  I just had some Insta Cards printed and I LOVE how they look.  You can't get the true look of the card from the photo but I love how matte and textured it looks.  I don't think they will be light-fast but I don't really care.  Click on the graphic above to get more inspiration!

November Kraft Plus Challenge

Ponytails and Paper Fails - November Kraft Plus Challenge

I love the November challenge over at Kraft Plus Challenges - it's Mosaic! So many options for you with this one.  I chose to modify a Silhouette Cameo cut file for my background.  I had the perfect photo - one of my girls in front of a very cool mosaic wall at Disney California Adventure Land.  I ended up cutting up one of the photos and using it in several different ways on my page.  As I had printed a few photos, and had my negatives from the Silhouette cut, I decided to do a second page!  Head over to the Kraft Plus blog for more inspiration.  Then feel free to share on our Facebook page or blog. Happy Krafting xx

September Kraft Plus Challenge

Ponytails & Paper Fails September 2018 Kraft Plus Challenge

Kraft Plus September 2018 Challenge

September is Office Party month at Kraft Plus. Yep, raid your desk drawers and see what you can create with a few humble office supplies.  I took a simplistic approach to my page and used a stapler and a blue ball-point pen.  I took inspiration from a previous smash book page that I had done where I smashed out some speech bubbles using a stencil and then did some messy borders around them.  I love capturing moments in time, even if it is completely random stuff.  Check out the Kraft Plus blog for some more awesome pages from our design team.  Also feel free to share on our Facebook page, we would love for you to join us!

Hello Gorgeous

When I'm not sure what I'm going to journal about I will often list some character traits and other things going on at the age the photo was taken.  I did the background with a new Flutterby Designs stencil and some white texture paste.  I then coloured in a few hearts with large Faber Castell Pitt Pens. I love the final result.

Kraft Plus Challenge - August

This month at Kraft + Community the challenge theme is Terracotta! This can be interpreted any way you wish.  I chose a recent photo with terracotta hues and then took inspiration from my scarf to give the page an Aztec look.  The background is a Silhouette Cameo file available from the Silhouette store.  Originally I was thinking of placing different earthy coloured paper behind the cut file, but I loved how it looked with the plain white paper.  The photo is of my sister and I on her 40th.  The mustache reminds of a very funny photobooth photo from that night which I'll scrap another day.  Head on over to the Kraft blog and play along this month. Happy Krafting xx

Made to Scrap - The Aussie Way - July Entry

Ponytails & Paper Fails - Rock Star

Ponytails & Paper Fails - Rock Star

I have a bunch of photos from our big USA trip in January/February to scrap and I haven't done many at all.  Here is one of them when my little one put on her best celebrity pose on the Hollywood Walk of Fame while we were waiting for our tour to begin. Fun fact: Minnie Mouse was just about to get her Star right behind us, with Katy Perry! A crowd had gathered but unfortunately we missed out on seeing that. Still, I couldn't resist adding a pink polka dot bow in honour of Miss Minnie. I have used a Charms Creations star, Corbett Creations Wood Veneers and acrylic shapes and Cocoa Vanilla Studio ephemera. The sequins came from a Scrappery Kit Club kit.  If you're wondering where the gold star came from I have been hoarding it since Christmas, it was a Ferrero Rocher packaging!  Thanks for the cool challenge Made to Scrap - The Aussie Way!

Kraft Plus July Challenge

This month is special for me as it is my first month as a DT member of the Kraft Plus team!  The Kraft Plus Challenge has given me loads of inspiration and motivation to scrap over the past year or so, and now I get to be a part of the team that brings you that inspiration! Thank you to Kraft Plus for having me, I am looking forward to being a part of the new Kraft Plus Community.

This month the challenge is "warp and weft", basically adding some weaving to your project.  I started with the large cut file and an idea to weave some paper through that. It didn't really work as well as I'd hoped. I love working with embroidery thread so I decided to make the large heart instead (also a cut file).  When I put some Crate Paper Good Vibes paper behind the large cut file it looked awesome.  I just love how well the purple-blue in the Good Vibes works with the Kraft.  I popped up the Kraft chevron with a couple of glue dots to give it dimension.  In the end I was really happy with how this one turned out.

Jot Mood Board Entry June

Ponytails & Paper Fails Jot Mood Board Entry

My entry for the Jot Mood Board this month is actually a 're-do' of a page I did years and years ago.  It was entitled "Miss Independent", was very basic, and the 'd' in independent was missing.  I started the page with a gel print inspired by those gorgeous coral flowers.  First I cut a stencil with my Silhouette Cameo, and used that to create the flower pattern in the paint on the gelli plate. After I printed onto the page, I then water-coloured the rest of it. I used Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock which I believe is a good paper for mixed media type work.  For the journaling I ended up typing up my words on Deli paper and then gluing them onto the cardstock, which worked well due to the mottly background.  I love the colour of the Charms Creation's "X" which suited the page exactly as Miss B's protests were usually prefaced with the word "No!".

Kraft Plus June Guest Design Page

Ponytails & Paper Fails June Kraft Plus Guest Design Page

I was super excited to be asked to guest design again for the fabulous Kraft Plus Challenge and be a part of their new community focus.  For this month's Dr Suess theme I drew inspiration from a pop-up book called "The Many Mice of Mr Brice".  I used my Silhouette Cameo to design, cut and score the little "doors" in the Kraft paper and then stuck photos behind each door.  Under these doors is also a little handwritten note from me.  I really wanted the page to be interactive and fun.  One thing I love about scrapbooking is watching my kids get enjoyment from going through their albums.  The doors also proved great for some hidden journalling.  Why not join in the fun over at Kraft + Community?

Kraft Plus April Challenge Entry

Ponytails & Paperfails April Kraft Plus Challenge Entry

This page came together with absolutely no plan! I was keen to try out my new Liquitex paints and so coloured some modelling paste blue. I then came across a box of old scrap paper punch-outs and picked out a few to put on the page.  I love to add some thread to my pages (maybe a hangover from my old cross stitch days?). So that was the next step.  The circular embellishments in the middle are actually beads I purchased from a bead shop years ago and they've never quite made it to a page. Well now they have! Finally I borrowed a square punch to add some triangular cut outs to the border.  I love how much old stuff actually did make it to this page.  The Charms Creations heart was the perfect addition.

Kraft Plus Challenge - March 2018 Entry

Ponytails & Paper Fails - Kraft Plus Challenge March Entry

So this month's challenge at Kraft Plus had to involve fussy cutting.  I don't fussy cut much these days, preferring to play with the Silhouette Cameo. I decided to use up some old Maggie Holmes paper (from Bloom I believe), and fussy cut the scallops out.  In the end I also fussy cut the letters for my title.  I also gave the background some texture with some stitching (after winning a fight with the sewing machine).  Photo credit: Smarty Pants Photography.  Happy Easter everyone.

Shine On

Ponytails & Paper Fails Shine On

Ponytails & Paper Fails Shine On

Ponytails & Paper Fails Shine On
You know how when you buy new scrapbooking materials you just have to use them? Well that's pretty much how this page came about :) I purchased some gorgeous paper and embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla's More Than Words collection. However I also challenged myself to use an old piece of paper (the grey background) in my layout.  I used matte gel medium for the textured flowers, and arrows on the heart.  My favourite part of this page is the glittered circles - made using the bottom of a glue bottle, some mod podge and some fine Stampin Up glitter.  Most of the rest of the paper and embellishments are from Cocoa Vanilla's More Than Words collection.  The title I had pre-cut using the Cameo Silhouette.  The stars were stitched from my freehand drawings.  Happy crafting.

February Jot Mood Board Entry

February Jot Mood Board

I just had to participate in the Jot Mood board this month with those gorgeous pinks and blues. My beautiful niece is turning 18 next month so I thought I would use it as inspiration for her card.  I kept being drawn to the large black and white photograph so had the idea to base the card around that and do a bi-fold card.   I wanted to bind the card together somehow but decided against it in the end as I didn't want anything interfering with the photo. If you have any brilliant ideas on how maybe it could have been done by all means let me know.  I lined the inside of the card with a gorgeous Maggie Holmes paper, and used a Charms Creation blue heart on the front.  Thanks again Jot for kicking my crafting butt into gear!
